WHAT WE ACHIEVED.

When a construction composites manufacturer of fiber-reinforced polymer and synthetic marble required an out-of-the-box approach for a unique application, they called on Chem-Trend. Delivering on their goal to increase efficiency and reduce downtime, we helped the team achieve 45% gains in productivity in mold preparation time and a 20% increase in releases per cycle while also improving the cleanliness of their molds.

HOW WE GOT THERE.

Working closely with the manufacturer’s team, we learned that the application of their current method, which included both release agent and sealer, was taking half of the mold preparation time — four hours, using two coats of sealer and three coats of release agent — and causing significant downtime. Attempting to curb this, their team experimented with eliminating the sealer, but this resulted in dirtier molds and decreased the number of release cycles by almost half. It was determined that they needed a nontraditional solution that could reduce mold preparation time and increase productivity — all without sacrificing the benefits of the dual release-agent-plus-sealer process.

OUR SOLUTION.

Guided by our customer-centric focus, our team developed a new product specifically to meet the needs of the manufacturer. The solution successfully combined a Chemlease® sealer and release agent into a single formulation, ensuring quicker application and maintained performance. The benefits extended even further, reducing not only mold preparation time, but also minimizing inventory requirements, simplifying the overall process, and improving efficiency. Since successfully employing this solution, we’ve expanded it into a suite of products — with low-, medium-, and high-slip options — to help other customers facing similar challenges.
